About Battlefield 3 Battlefield 3 is a first person shooter that is the seventh full release in the Battlefield series of games and a sequel to Battlefield 2. Battlefield 3 includes a single player campaign that puts players into the role of an elite U.S. Marine as they fight in modern day cities of New York, Paris and Tehran just to name a few. Battlefield 3 will also include the traditional competitive multiplayer modes that have been standard in all of the Battlefield games. The game is being built using the Frostbite 2.0 game engine and will include state of the art graphics and animation as well as fully destructible environments.

Features & Gameplay Battlefield 3 will include many of the favorite game mechanics that have made the series a hit with full single player campaign and multiplayer game modes. Players will experience new features such as feeling the impact of explosions, ability to drag wounded comrades to safety, and mountable weapons. Popular features from other Battlefield titles such as the prone position will be available in Battlefield 3.
Environments & Vehicles - Battlefield 3 will feature modern day environments with settings in Paris, Tehran, New York and other modern day cities as well as open landscape environments. Battlefield 3 will include full vehicle warfare with players able to control land, sea and air vehicles including fighter jets traveling at super sonic speed.
Multiplayer - The multiplayer mode for the PC will be run on dedicated servers and include support for massive online battles that include up to 64 players at once. Release Dates World Wide - Fall 2011

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Karl-Magnus Troedsson the General Manager of DICE, confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield 3 is being primarily developed for the PC first before they rework the code for the consoles.
