It's better if you have the recommended, or optimal specs. Minimum means the game should work, but might not work as well as you hoped.

Not quite sure why you say you have an AGP card and that some memory is dedicated, system RAM and video RAM are separate when you have a video card...the GPU handles that on it's own and doesn't share resources with your CPU, normally.
Good that you upgraded your system RAM, but you need to meet the minimum specs as declared by the game maker.

Also note this, seems like they threw that bit about Direct X in there at the last minute :
